Take a look inside
Walk the floor before you set foot on it.
Where to park. Which door. Where you sit. Where your kid will be standing. Everything people usually find out the hard way on their first visit — laid out here so the only new thing on the day is the class itself.
Pick a studio
Two floors, ten minutes apart
Pulling in
You park right out front
Free parking directly outside on N. Lindbergh. No meters, no garage, no hunting for a spot ten minutes before class.
Through the door
Someone is expecting you
Give your name at the desk. If you booked a free class we already have you down, and an instructor will come over and introduce themselves before anything starts.
The mat
The main floor
Full matted training floor, shoes off, bare feet. It is bigger than it looks from the street — enough room for a full class to spread out without anyone being crowded into a corner.
Where you sit
Parents watch from the edge
Seating runs alongside the floor. You see the entire class, not a version of it through a window — which matters a lot on a first visit when your child keeps checking that you are still there.
In session
What an hour looks like
Warm-up, basics, drills, then a line-up and bow out. New students train next to an experienced one, near the front but never stranded in the middle on their own.
The wall
Where the goals live
Belts, tapes and names. It is the first thing most kids walk over to, and the reason a lot of them stop asking whether they have to come this week.
Pulling in
Park and walk straight in
Free parking on site at Vaile Ave. Ten minutes from Hazelwood, and closer if you are coming from the north side of the county.
Through the door
Check in at the desk
Same routine as Hazelwood. Give your name, meet your instructor, and take ten minutes to get your bearings before the class starts.
The mat
The training floor
Matted floor with mirrors down one side, so students can see and correct their own stance instead of waiting to be told.
Where you sit
Seating alongside the floor
Chairs run along the edge of the mat. Close enough that a nervous first-timer can find your face without breaking stride.
In session
The same hour, a different time
Identical curriculum to Hazelwood, run by the same instructors — on a different timetable, which is the whole point of having two floors.
The wall
Courtesy. Integrity. Perseverance. Self-control.
The tenets are up on the wall because they get referred to, not because they decorate well. Students are asked to recite them, and to explain what they mean.
One membership
Train at both studios, on two timetables
Your membership is not tied to one building. Both floors run the same curriculum with the same instructors — at different times. Miss Tuesday at one? Catch it at the other.
Hazelwood
8002 N. Lindbergh Blvd
Florissant
3833 Vaile Ave.
The most flexible training schedule in St. Louis. Florissant runs later evening bands, Hazelwood adds daytime, black belt and sparring classes — and your membership covers both. A late shift, a school run or a Tuesday game does not cost you a week of training.
